Choosing Text Equivalents in Flash MX

Text equivalents should also be used to group elements together. In this same example of a moon orbiting a planet, we do not want to assign a text equivalent for the moon and another for the planet. Instead, is it the relationship between the moon and planet that is the important idea here. Thus, we should assign a text equivalent that reflects this.

To formally group several elements together, we will use the ‘make child objects accessible’ option on the accessibility panel. By deselecting this option, the elements contained within the movie clip are treated as a single element.
