Choosing Text Equivalents in Flash MX

The same animation in a different context will serve a significantly different purpose. In the example below, the same animation of a moon orbiting a planet is shown in the context of a physics site. In this case, it is safe to assume the animation is used to convey significant content. As a result, the text equivalents for the animation should convey the important ideas presented. In this case we may use a text equivalent of “A moon orbiting a planet in an elliptical orbit illustrating Keplar’s laws of planetary motion.”

When creating longer text equivalents for animations, it is appropriate to use the description field in conjunction with the name field. The name field might be used to hold a sort description while the description field is used to hold more detailed information. For the example above, we might use, "Planetary motion" as the name and “A moon orbiting a planet in an elliptical orbit illustrating Keplar’s laws of planetary motion” as the description.
